COVE Animal Health, a Community of Veterinary Entrepreneurs, is proud to announce a new partnership with Windcrest Animal Hospital Group, a five-location veterinary organization serving pets and families throughout the Great Wilmington, DE. This collaboration marks COVE’s first expansion into Delaware and establishes its newest regional veterinary network, advancing its mission to deliver connected, high-quality veterinary care to more communities.
COVE Animal Health builds and supports veterinary-led regional hospital networks that bring together primary, urgent, emergency and specialty care. Through this partnership, Windcrest Animal Hospital, Centreville Veterinary Hospital, Graylyn Crest Animal Hospital, Hockessin Animal Hospital, and Talleyville Veterinary Hospital will retain their names and community identities, while gaining access to broader clinical expertise, resources, leadership and integrated patient services. This model reflects COVE’s mission to build integrated veterinary services for patients.
Together, the hospitals provide comprehensive veterinary services to the Delaware community, including wellness and preventive care, sick care, dentistry, surgery, diagnostics, rehabilitation, and specialized care for avian, exotic, and small animals at select locations. Windcrest Animal Hospital also provides 24/7 emergency and urgent care.
Founded in 1954, Windcrest Animal Hospital has grown from a small practice into a five-location veterinary group. The organization has built its reputation around compassionate care, clinical expertise, and a commitment to serving the pets and families of the Delaware community.
“What makes Windcrest especially unique is that they have already built a highly collaborative, multi-location network that brings together primary, urgent, and emergency care across Delaware,” said Tessa Olson, MBA, CEO of COVE Animal Health. “That vision aligns exactly with COVE’s mission to create integrated hospital systems for our patients. We are proud to welcome the Windcrest team and together, we look forward to supporting their continued growth by expanding services, capabilities, and locations throughout the region while preserving the culture, relationships, and exceptional care that has defined Windcrest for decades.”
The partnership offers an opportunity to build on the foundation Windcrest has established over decades while providing the hospitals and their teams with the resources and support of a larger veterinary organization.
“As Windcrest Animal Hospital Group has grown into a five-hospital group providing 24/7 emergency care, the demands of recruiting and retaining exceptional physicians, investing in advanced technology and equipment, and adapting to a changing profession have grown as well. We carefully evaluated our options and chose COVE Animal Health because our values align. They put medicine first, invest in their people, and understand the importance of building for generations to come. We are confident this partnership will provide the resources needed to support Windcrest Animal Hospital Group’s continued growth while preserving the culture and commitment to care that define who we are,” said Dr. F. Morgan Dawkins of Windcrest Animal Hospital group.
Windcrest’s five hospitals will continue serving their local communities, with the existing teams providing care across the group’s locations. The hospitals currently serve dogs and cats, with select locations also providing care for birds, reptiles, small mammals, and other exotic animals.
