The Two Companies
Pull Up Boiiz is an Austin independent music platform founded in 2021 by Jordan Protzman. It has produced more than 720 shows and worked with more than 1,000 artists, with a model built around affordable stages for local performers and partner, speaker and networking programming around those bookings.
Austin Nites Party Bus is a South Austin party bus and group transportation company based on South Congress Avenue. It owns its buses and employs its drivers, and provides concert and event transportation alongside private group transportation across Austin, the Texas Hill Country and Lake Travis.
The September showcase featured ten artists between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m. at Regal Rooms, 1204 Regal Row, in South Austin. Multiple Austin businesses and organizations supported the night, including Bleached Records, which provided live vinyl pressing at the venue.
Transportation Challenges for Non-Downtown Venues
Most Austin event planning assumes a downtown venue. Many rooms that book local music are outside downtown, creating additional transportation considerations for guests, artists and crews.
- Guests arrive at the venue and typically leave from the venue, with limited walkable options.
- Late-night transit options can be limited when shows end around 2 a.m.
- Rideshare demand can increase when a show ends, creating additional transportation considerations for larger groups.
- Artists and crews have separate transportation needs, with multiple load-ins and departures that may not match the audience schedule.
“Booking the room and the artists is the part people see. Getting ten acts in for load-in and a full crowd home at two in the morning is the part that decides whether the night actually works. Having that handled by someone who owns the buses means I am not solving it on the phone at midnight.”
– Jordan Protzman, founder, Pull Up Boiiz
“One bus, one pickup, one scheduled return at two in the morning, and nobody’s driving. Promoters book the room and the artists, then find out that part is still theirs to solve.”
– Nicholas Benson, owner, Austin Nites Party Bus
What the Partnership Covers
For Pull Up Boiiz shows, Austin Nites Party Bus handles artist and crew transportation at load-in, guest shuttles and scheduled returns at the end of events. Both companies are opening the same arrangement to other Austin venues and promoters booking rooms outside the downtown districts.
